Job Description Eaton Corporation in Belmond, IA has an opportunity for an entry level controls engineer. The primary function of this role is to support manufacturing by maintaining electronics systems and developing controls systems for the production equipment in the plant.
The essential functions of this position are as follows:
- Design control systems for machine tools, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic
- Assist in the selection of capital equipment for manufacturing processes
- Improves current machine tools to increase uptime, improve quality and increase productivity
- Provides engineering support to production equipment and processes, including advising maintenance
- Directs analytical problem solving and creativity/innovation to improve key business drivers
- Demonstration and application of technical controls engineering expertise/knowledge
- Trains employees on new technologies and manufacturing processes
- Maintain and follow Quality Management System and Environmental Management System requirements
- Involvement in teams & champion team activities
- Track and accumulate cost savings
- Interpret and assure compliance with all national, state and OSHA standards on plant equipment
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Position Criteria:
- Understanding of electronic circuitry
- Knowledge of machine PLC programming techniques
- General understanding of the national electric state codes and OSHA requirements
- Knowledge of the manufacturing process and basic machine tool concepts
- Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- Detailed abilities in capital equipment justification, project scheduling and managerial planning
- Experience in Lean tools
- Strong communication skills for interaction with all levels of the organization
- Autocad Experience
- CNC Machine Programming
- Technical knowledge in machine function, processes, control system, CNC, PLC, servo drives, stepper motor drives and electrical/electronic systems
